What a local move typically costs

Some homes hold more than others

Bedroom count is a starting point. A full garage or a furnished basement can fill another truck, so here is what a no-pack local move typically costs, depending on how many trucks it takes.

    $1,500 and below

  • One full truck

    $2,500 and below

  • One and a half trucks

    $3,500 and below

  • Three full trucks

What goes into your price

HOW PRICING WORKS

Every move except labor-only jobs has two main fees, moving labor and the truck fee. Materials and the card fee apply only if they fit your move.

A 3-hour minimum

The lowest local job is $540 before the card fee. Most moves run 4 hours or more because of the time spent blanketing, wrapping, and protecting furniture.

A walkthrough before loading

Your crew lead walks through every room with your inventory list. Large items not on the list can add time or require a truck, and the price goes up.

Binding quotes

Long-distance moves are usually binding. Local binding quotes are available too, priced higher to cover a day that runs long.

Free estimates

On-site estimates are free and preferred for 3+ bedrooms. Online and photo estimates work, but items not shown in photos may change the price.

Over 50 miles

Long-distance moves use a different pricing system and cost more than local hourly rates.

Moving price questions

FAQ

How much do movers cost in Atlanta?

For a standard local move with Midtown, most studios and 1-bedroom units run $600 to $1,400, 2-bedroom units $1,600 to $2,400, 3-bedroom units $2,400 to $3,100, and 4-bedroom units $3,200 and up, before packing.

Is the truck included in the hourly rate?
No. The truck fee is separate and matches the hourly rate, charged flat on total drive time. A 1-hour total drive is $160 and a 1.5-hour drive is $240.
Why is there a 3-hour minimum?
Every job needs a crew and a truck for the day. The minimum keeps short jobs fair to the crew, so the lowest local job is $540 before the 3% card fee.
Do prices change by season?
They can. Labor rates can differ between winter and summer, and truck fees can change if fuel prices keep rising.
Can I get a binding quote?
Yes. Long distance moves are usually binding. For local moves, a binding quote is available but priced higher to cover a day that runs long.
Should I buy my own boxes?
We recommend it. Our materials cost more because we buy, store and haul them. If you would rather we bring them, the supply price list above shows every item.
