What an office move includes

WHAT WE MOVE

Every office is different, so the walkthrough sets the crew size and truck. These are the pieces most office moves involve.

Workstations

  • Desks and tables, padded and shrink-wrapped before they leave the room
  • Cubicles taken down at the old office and rebuilt at the new one
  • Office chairs, bookcases and filing cabinets

Boxes and files

  • Boxed files, supplies and personal desk items
  • Boxes and packing supplies if you need them, priced per item

Equipment

  • Printers and larger office equipment, wrapped and boxed
  • Anything unusually heavy or fragile: tell us before the walkthrough

What to sort out before the crew arrives

PLANNING CHECKLIST

Building rules set the schedule for an office move. Settle these with your building manager early so your coordinator can plan the crew around them.

  1. Ask your current and new building about elevator reservations, loading dock hours and any insurance certificate they require from the mover.
  2. Decide who on your team is the point of contact on moving day.
  3. Label each desk, cabinet and box with its destination room or desk number.
  4. Have employees clear desk drawers and personal items before the crew arrives.
  5. Back up computers and have your IT person or vendor disconnect them before the move.

How an office move is priced

Cost

Local office moves use the same pricing as every Midtown local move: an hourly crew plus a truck fee based on drive time, billed in 15-minute increments. If your budget needs a fixed number, ask for a binding quote. It is priced higher to cover a day that runs long, but the number will not move.

A walkthrough of the office is the best way to get an accurate price, especially when cubicles need to come apart.

How this is priced

  • Two moversfrom $160 an hour
  • Each extra mover+$50 an hour
  • Truck feehourly rate x total drive time
  • Minimum3 hours
  • Card payments3% fee

Supplies you buy from us are added per item. See the full price guide for the list.

“Midtown Moving was Absolutely Professional, efficient, and respectful… Highly respectful men that comes to the office to ask “Could you guys hold open the doors?” Instead of making them inoperable.”
